Sourdough Artisanal Baking Class with Jared Alvare

We’re thrilled to be hosting artisanal bread baker, Jared Alvare, in our very own barn kitchen at Life’s Patina. Founder of Alvare Artisanal Bread, Jared enjoys sharing how he has established balance in life through the rhythm and process of creating real food.

Sourdough, naturally leavened and slow fermented bread, is the pinnacle of artisan bread and sought after for its taste, texture and health benefits. In this workshop, we will explore the process and rhythm of baking artisan bread and how to fit bread into your family’s daily routine. You will leave with an understanding of the baking process and how to balance it in your everyday life.

Each attendee will receive a bread mixing bowl, flour sack towel, bench knife, starter culture, bread recipes and delicious loaf that they will bake during the workshop. In addition, each attendee will go home with a completed dough loaf to bake at home the following day. We will go through each step in the hands on process of artisan bread making including mixing, kneading, fermenting, shaping, baking and eating! A tasting will follow the class with house made infused oil and house made butter.

Two sessions will be given on Sunday, February 28th – a morning session and an afternoon session. Choose which time works best for you!
